L 27 was the last but one of the boats ordered during the war.  She was commissioned for trials at Sheemess on Tuesday December 1st 1925. Laid down in the Vickers yard at Barrow in January, 1918, she was eventually towed to Sheerness Dockyard to have her machinery installed, and was completed after nearly eight years of leisurely work.
